Dog Groomer

Requirements for this role:

• Prior experience as a groomer is essential

This full time role is available Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5:00pm, there is no weekend work!

There are no cages at Paws. Dogs are washed, dried and groomed as per their individual needs and personalities. Basically, the dogs run the show not the other way around.

The Role:

As an award-winning pet grooming and Dog Day Care facility, we are looking for an experienced Dog Groomer to maintain our high standards and positive customer feedback.

Duties include:

• Performing a range of grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, clipping, and styling, based on breed standards or owner preferences.
• Building and maintaining rapport with our clients’ owners through feedback and transparency.
• Creating media content through videos and photos.

About You:

Your proven experience as Dog Groomer will take your application straight to the top.

We are looking for someone who would love to become part of a team. You need to be quick on your feet, with the ability to multitask – we must improvise and adapt to whatever our furry clients throw at us on any given day.

Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as a Dog Groomer, with a portfolio of past grooming work.
• Knowledge of different dog breeds and their specific grooming requirements.
• Passion for and experience with dogs, including knowledge of different breeds, behaviours, and body language.
• Strong communication skills, both with dogs, pet owners and team members.
• Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments safely and confidently.
• Patience and empathy when dealing with dogs, especially those who may be anxious or aggressive.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Animal Attendant

• Monitoring dog behaviours and play interactions closely
• Redirecting inappropriate behaviour calmly and confidently
• Cleaning up after dogs, including mopping, sweeping, poo pick-up, and general sanitisation
• Entertaining and engaging dogs in structured and safe play
• Following protocols and being open to learning on the job

We’re looking for someone who:

Part Time Dog Washer/Dryer

We are looking for a passionate part-time dog washer/dryer. This is not an easy job and requires patience, skill and compassion in some cases. You must be willing to listen and learn as well as have a good worth ethic. You will need to work and work quickly and meticulously using skills you are taught along the way. Please do not apply if all you want to do is play with dogs. We have let you know the person we are looking for and what the job entails for a reason. The only guarantee we can give is the joy of working with dogs who come in for grooming and/or daycare or both go beyond the endless hours of mopping up pees and picking up poos. A professional dog groomer will have mastered washing and drying dogs before they even held a pair of scissors or clipper. Never underestimate how important the role of a dog washer/dryer is.
